Except for the depression bit, what you've described happened to me too a couple of years ago, and wonderfully, it's still going. A night-time waking to exceptionally strong out of body vibrations and a 100% accurate pre-cognitive experiencing of my spiritual awakening proper (two and a half days later) flicked a switch in me and I started meditating daily and devouring thousands of pages of esoteric literature that I'd previously written off, having unworldy experiences left right and center daily.
