Physics help, why is there energy lost?
when u hit the pendulum, you increase the kinetic energy, hence there is more kinetic energy in the pendulum in comparison to the gravitational energy. The truth is that if the gravitational energy was higher than the kinetic energy, then the pendulum would not move. Newtons first law is that an object will continue remain in motion until unless acted upon by a force and also that an object will continue to remain at rest until unless acted upon by a force. Hence, the kinetic energy is needed to be higher than the gravitational energy in order for the pendulum to move. There was no energy loss, Energy cannot be created or destroyed, energy was simply transformed into another kind of energy......
